The Secretary of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare of India, Shri Manoj Ahuja, visited Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University on Saturday. M. Raghunandanrao, the Incharge Vice Chancellor of PJTSAU & Secretary of the Department of Agriculture of Telangana, accompanied him. Dr Sudheerkumar, the Registrar of PJTSAU and Dr R. Jagadeeshwar, the Director of Research at the university, welcomed him. He examined the use of drones in crop protection management, specifically in maize and other crops. He also observed a demonstration of drone spraying on a maize crop and interacted with scientists to learn more about the effectiveness and challenges of using drones in agriculture. He later visited the AgriHub Innovation Center and met with representatives from agri-startups. He praised the efforts of PJTSAU for adopting new technologies in agriculture and appreciated a 10th-grade student who developed eco-friendly, biodegradable plant pots made from groundnut shells. The Secretary also emphasized the need to encourage agri-startups and innovation in the agricultural sector.
